charant Creon as the Main Character of Antigone Essay -- Antigone ess
Creon as the Main Character of Antigone à All through the Greek play Antigone by Sophocles, there exists a contest with respect to who ought to get the assignment of fundamental character. Antigone, the girl of the reviled King Oedipus, just as Creon, impressive lord of Thebes, both show up as the key figures in this noteworthy play. I accept that Creon, ruler of Thebes, ought to be viewed as the primary character in this work of Greek theater. Three focuses can be utilized to make this contention: Creon endures enormously, he learns an exercise, and is a grievous saint. Creon, similar to every single principle character in Greek dramatization, endures numerous misfortunes and experiences enthusiastic agony and anguish. An objective of the revile on the House of Oedipus by connection, Creon was at that point a survivor of destiny. His fate has just been foreordained by the revile on the place of Oedipus, so he should either experience enduring, passing, or even both. He loses his future little girl in-law, Antigone, by starting her passing, his child through self destruction, and his significant other by self destruction also. Antigone broke a pronouncement of Creon's: not to cover the double crosser Polynices. The sister of Polynices, she violates this new law since she realizes that so as to satisfy the divine beings she should so the correct thing and cover Polynices. At the point when she does Creon sentences her to death via fixing her in a cavern. Subsequent to understanding that he has made a basic blunder, he and his devotees unlock the rough burial place to find that Antigone has ended her own life. Creon's child, Haemon, the to-be spouse of Antigone, races into the collapse grieving. He endeavors an assault on Creon, yet neglects to associate with his blade push, and out of frustration and regret executes himself with his weapon alongside his dead love. Creon, overpowered with anguish, comes back to the palace. Be that as it may, ... ...Divine beings have endeavored to avoid their destiny, however have always been unable to do as such. Creon is influenced by destiny through the scourge of Oedipus. The Chorus discusses: The pressure of a Fate is hard; Nor riches, nor fighting, nor ward, Nor dark boats separating the ocean Can oppose her, or escape. (35). In spite of the way that the play's name remains as Antigone, I accept that Creon ought to be perceived as the focal character in this play. He lives longer, has more lines, remains in numerous ethical contentions, and doesn't pull a vanishing demonstration in the play. Given this information, possibly a peruser will peruse the play Antigone with another planned, and take a gander at the story from both purpose of-sees. Not putting Antigone as the 'hero', and Creon as the 'trouble maker', however thinking about the pair as great individuals battling for the privilege in clashing circumstances. Ã

De-Stalinization in the Soviet Union Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words
De-Stalinization in the Soviet Union - Essay Example Enormous cleanses and the vanishing of any individual who tested Stalin were exceptionally customary events. Stalin's rule of fear had broad negative consequences for the political arrangement of the Soviet Union and still influences Russian and Eastern European governmental issues today. After Stalin's passing in 1953, the board of trustees that was left accountable for the Soviet Union quickly set out to change the administration and cutoff the impact of Stalinist arrangements. Khrushchev and Gorbachev were two Soviet pioneers who endeavored to change the Soviet System to end dictatorship. The approaches of both were to some degree effective, yet nor had the option to change the framework. The Soviet Union fallen when Gorbachev was in power. This was trailed by a time of government that was free and majority rule however exceptionally degenerate and monetarily appalling. In 1998 the tyrant Vladimir Putin was chosen to be the leader of Russia. In 1953 Joseph Stalin kicked the bucket. It has been recommended by numerous that he was killed with poison by his adversaries yet this has not been demonstrated. After his demise, there was some disarray regarding who was in control because of the way that a cleanse that was done a brief timeframe before his passing had disposed of numerous senior authorities in the Communist Party. An advisory group that incorporated the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party Nikita Khrushchev and a self delegated Premier of the Soviet Union Georgi Malenkov wound up as the pioneers of the USSR. Lavrenity Beria was the First Deputy Prime clergyman and the leader of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which was converged with the MGB at that point. Beria gave off an impression of being exceptionally liberal and organized liberal approaches after Stalin's passing, however he was likewise an authority accountable for Stalin's Great Purge, and his capacity base was the mystery pol ice. Stalin's arrangements were disagreeable with the vast majority and the individuals from the council guaranteed that numerous changes would be made. Countless high-positioning authorities in the Communist Party subtly contradicted Stalin and his strategies. There was strife in the gathering positions between the individuals who bolstered Stalinist arrangements and the present reformist administration. Somewhere in the range of 1953 and 1955 Khrushchev and Malenkov requested numerous liberal changes. Costs for some, products were diminished, absolution was given to some political detainees in the gulag framework, constrained work was deserted and the degree of limitations on private plots was decreased. Beria was blamed for being a British operator, given a show preliminary, and executed in 1953.Malenkov had to leave because of extortion in 1955. After this, Khrushchev turned into the Premier of the Soviet Union in 1958 and the undisputed pioneer of the USSR Khrushchev was a significant reformist. In 1956, Khrushchev gave a discourse to the gathering chiefs called On the Personality Cult and its Consequences. In this discourse he officially assaulted the strategies of Stalin and uncovered his violations. A strategy of de-Stalinization was declared. His arrangements were to change the Soviet Union with the goal that it would turn into an increasingly liberal state and to change the USSR into an unadulterated socialist country that would be monetarily more grounded that the United States over a time of twenty years. Statement Of The Problem Television, Radio, And Social Media - 2475 Words
Statement Of The Problem: Television, Radio, And Social Media (Research Proposal Sample) Content: Research ProposalNameInstitutionResearch ProposalIntroductionEvery seller hopes to boost sales by advertising their products on different media platforms including television, radio, and social media. However, the type of content aired on this platforms and especially TV profoundly impacts the likelihood of customers to purchase products. In this light, sex and violence have been realized to impair the memory of viewers, and as a result, they experience difficulty in encoding and retrieving the content on the advertisement. On the other hand, those that watch neutral content can easily retrieve the information and are more likely to purchase the products. The research will look into how violent, and sexually explicit programming affects TV commercial memory as compared to neutral programming.Statement of the ProblemThe study is set to prove the impact of sex and violence on the ability to retrieve information on the embedded advertisements. Often, it is thought that v iolence and sex increase sales because a larger population is likely to watch this particular content. However, this is not the case because when a follow up is conducted on the viewers and they are asked about the description of the ads, a good number of them hardly recall what they saw. The reason is that, a human brain experiences difficulty in encoding unrelated information. For instance, if the program was on sex or violence then an ad on detergent or healthy living is shown, the viewers are unlikely to concentrate on the ad as they wait for it to end for them to go on with the program. As such, it is clear that sex and violent content do not really sell and instead of the viewers thinking of the ad that was shown, their thoughts are primarily on the sex and violent programs they watched. It is, therefore, imperative for sellers to consider this fact and work on placing their ads more on neutral content because this promotes concentration on the ad that is being advertised.Revi ew of LiteratureA literature review of different sources was conducted, and several authors have almost similar thoughts on the impact of violence and sexual content on the viewers' memory and their inability to recall previous information on ads.Cass (2017) uses an example of Fuguet's "Santiago" to prove that memory is indeed displaced based on the content of the fiction. The primary themes in the program are loneliness, substance abuse, and characters finding themselves in stressful relationships (Cass, 2017). As such the themes are likely to occupy the attention of the viewers and any ad or commercial embedded in the fiction may not be retrieved quickly. More so, Bushman (2007) attempted to find out whether there was an impact on remembering ads embedded in sexual, violent or neutral programs. A total of 324 students were used in the meta-analysis and for each of the programs, two ads ran after every twenty minutes of viewing. The programs went for forty-five minutes, and recall tests were conducted two days later. Bushman (2007) found out that that the commercials embedded in neutral programs were remembered easily than those in sexual programs. Both genders' memories were equally impaired, and thus, advertisers should limit the number of ads they insert in violent and sex programs if viewers are to remember the commercials.Violent programs and those with sexual content do not market the products. Bushman (2005) sought to prove his point by conducting a study where he used people who were aged between 18 and 54 as they are the principal target for advertisers. The participants were divided into three groups and presented with violent, sexual and neutral programs to watch. Bushman (2005) later discovered that those who watched violent and sexual content could hardly recall the embedded memory advertisements compared to the group which was presented with the non-sexual programs. It was therefore concluded that memory on commercials is impaired in violent mov ies.Every advertiser hopes to increase the purchase of their products, and the only way to do this is through advertising. Embedding ads in a program is one way that promoters do this, and they target especially those with sexual and violent content. However, this approach is not practical as most viewers do not pay attention to the commercials. Bushman and Bonacci (2002) decided to conduct a study of 324 participants and made them watch neutral, violent and sex programs. Nine ads were inserted in each of the programs, and the participants were made to recall the ads they had seen. Those who had watched neutral programs recalled the brands that had been advertised whereas those who watched sex programs could not remember the commercials. Bushman and Bonacci (2002) confirmed that people have difficulty in encoding unrelated concepts and that is why the ads that advertised detergents or food could not be remembered well because it did not relate with the sexual or the violent content. Sex and violence have been linked to aggression among children and teenagers. Anderson and Bushman (2001) assert that children tend to engage in violent video games and movies or programs with sexual content without their parents' consent. As a result, children are prompted to participate in the activities they watch in these programs explaining the rise of violent traits among many adolescents today (Anderson Bushman, 2001). While watching these programs, children will pay less attention to any ads that pop up in the program as the sexual and the violent content already occupies their minds. Some of the violent attributes that confirm that the televised program leads to aggression in children include drug and substance abuse, sexual encounters and robbery (Anderson Bushman, 2001). After watching these programs, children can hardly remember any embedded ad but will narrate the program explicitly.According to Bushman Phillips (2001), most programs shown on the TV are violent, but this does not hinder advertiser from embedding their ads into the programs. Bushman Phillips (2001) assert that an effective advertisement is that which people can remember and can retrieve information when asked. To reinforce their stand, Bushman Phillips (2001) performed a meta-analysis consisting of 1700 participants and were presented with violent programs to watch. The primary objective of Bushman Phillips (2001) was to confirm that these programs indeed impair memory on commercials and that this may not be the best platform for advertisers to market their good and services.Additionally, Furnham and Mainaud (2011) posit that the TV programs with sexual content diminish the memory of commercials. Furnham and Mainaud (2011) performed a study among 82 French individuals who were between 18 and 54 years. This is a convenient age group because they have been identified as active viewers. Sexual and nonsexual programs were presented to them, and after every fifteen minutes of vie wing, an ad was aired for one minute. The total number of ads was six where three had sexual content whereas the other three were neutral (Furnham Mainaud, 2011). Immediately after viewing, the subjects were asked to recall the ads, and it was noted that the sexual commercials were recalled better compared to the nonsexual advertisements. This confirmed that sexual content in programs had a significant impact on people's capacity to remember the ads they watched.Sex boosts sales, and this has been confirmed by a study performed by King, McClelland Furnham (2015). The participants involved were presented with both the sexual and nonsexual commercials that were embedded in both sexual and nonsexual programs. This research resembles one performed by Leka, McClelland Furnham (2013) where the objective in both instances was to find out memory impairment on sexual and nonsexual ads. The researchers discovered that the erotic ads embedded in the sexual programs could be recalled quickly and the products advertised were purchased. From the memory tests conducted on the participants that watched the sexual ads, it was noted that they could remember the brand and even give a full description of the products.Leka, McClelland and Furnham (2013) conducted a study where the grouped participants grouped into two. One team was presented with sexual content whereas the other one watched nonsexual programs. After watching, the participants were astonished by the results where it was assumed that sexual ads would be recalled more compared to nonsexual ads. In the sexual programs, the nonsexual commercials could not be remembered easily because of the impaired memory. It was also evident that the group watching these programs was indulged more on the sexual content than the nonsexual ads. The sexual ads in the sexual programs could be recalled more because the two materials related more. Consequently, it was noted that women could remember both the non-sexual and the sexual co mmercials compared to men who would only recall the sexual ads.Another study by Lull Bushman (2015) confirms that memory on TV ads is impaired upon viewing violent content. This goes against the assumption that sex and violence sell. Since the sex and violent content call for the use of cognitive resources compared to nonsexual movies, there are high chances that the individual will not recall the embedded messages in the ads. Similarly, Lull Bushman (2015) conducted a meta-analysis consisting of 8,489 participants, and they were subjected to 53 experiments. They were provided with both violent and neutral content where the researchers noted that the participants who watched neutral content were able to remember the ads more compared to those that watched violent content. Therefore, the researchers concluded that the embedded ads did not boost sale as they altered peoples ability to retrie...

Importance Of Freedom Of Speech - 778 Words
When you hear someone referring to Freedom of Speech, what comes to your mind? How far should Freedom of Speech go for you or others? And when you see someone practicing Freedom of Speech, do you actually support it? In todayââ¬â¢s society, some of us forget what Freedom of Speech actually is and how far it is actually extended. Freedom of Speech means, the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint. Freedom of Speech is protected under the First Amendment. Freedom of Speech includes but is not limited to: freedom to not speak, freedom to use certain words or phrases to converse a political message, freedom to advertise commercial products and professional services and freedom to engage in symbolic speeches. Some thingsâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This causes confusions to those who know nothing about what kinds of rights that we the people are abiding by. A good example would be the Philando Castileââ¬â¢s death case that occurred in 2016. Due to what people believed that was an unfair death for Castile, and getting shot without knowing his rights and being unarmed, Black Lives Matter took over to protest. Black Lives Matter is an organization that was created to let the society know that Black Lives do matter, and they will stand up for all black lives that were left too soon without respect and without their rights. Black Lives Matter (BLM) closed one of the busiest highways, Interstate 35W on University Avenue in Minnesota on a morning at 7:50 a.m. While many were on their way to reach their destinations, they were not able to due to protestors who were blocking the both highways. I personally am for freedom of speech, but when blocking highways to get a message across, this really does not make sense to me. Why would we all suffer for a cause, which not all of us are responsible for? BLM has blocked many highways and intersections before, just trying to make the government system aware. Managing Professional ethic and civic moral - MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Managing Professional ethic and civic moral. Answer: Introduction Information and Communication Technology or ICT has become an integral part of the business processes. The use of technology has proven to be a boon for business processes. Information and communication technology refers to the use of different digital devices connected over internet that helps in monitoring and managing the entire system (Dewey, 2016). There are numerous advantages of use of ICT in business. However, there are certain disadvantages as well. In the recent years, there had been a considerable increase in the use of ICT in business. With the increase in the use of internet for managing the business processes, there had been cases of privacy and data security risk. Internet and ICT makes the process of business management easy, but proves to be a cause of increasing vulnerability of the system as well (Shafer-Landau, 2012). One of the greatest examples of ethical issue arising due to the compromise in data and privacy of ICT devices is Wanna Cry ransomware attack that broke in May 2017. This ransomware attack spread all over the world in a very less time proving that use of ICT can be a bane too. The report discusses the how the use of technology contributes to a problem describing the Wanna Cry ransomware attack that spread worldwide (Fromm, 2013). The report further evaluates the case study in terms of ethics discussing the six questions of Doing Ethics. The ethical issue arising from the use of ICT is discussed in the fo llowing paragraphs. Wanna Cry Attack Wanna Cry ransomware attack is a cyber attack that spread worldwide within a limited time. The Wanna cry ransomware is an encryption based ransomware that locks all the data of the system. The data can be only decrypted by a decryption key, which can be obtained after paying the ransom. The ransomware attack broke in May 2017 and spread all over the world infecting hundred thousands of computers running on windows operating system. The attacker could gain an access to the system by exploiting the vulnerability of the ICT devices. The ransomware could easily spread from one computer system to another that is connected over a common network. This resulted in spread of ransomware in many computer systems over a short span of time (Mohurle Patil, 2017). The attack resulted in the locking the computer systems asking ransom in form of bitcoins for decrypting the information. The ransom furthermore was to be paid within a certain time span of week after which the data will be permanently d eleted. This was an intelligent attack but could have been avoided if proper security measures were taken. The attack created a stir in the field of cyber security. This attack affected a number of emergency services and spread over countries. The malicious code only needed to look up for the domain name in continuing with the attack. The spread of the malicious code could be stopped only if the domain name is activated. The spread of the virus stopped by activating the domain name. Doing Ethics Technique Doing ethics technique is an analysis of certain situation based on the certain questions. The order of the question asked also holds a lot of importance in analyzing the doing ethics technique. The different questions of doing ethics technique includes, What is going on?, who is affected?, what are the ethical issues and implications?, What can be done about it? And which option is best?. These questions are in this order only in order to analyze a certain situation (Trevino Nelson, 2016). The analysis of Wanna Cry ransomware attack based on doing ethics technique is discussed in the next section. What is going on? A dangerous ransomware attack spread worldwide on May 2017 that targeted the computers running on old version of windows operating system. The unpatched system was the main target of the attack. The attack spread over 150 countries infecting around 3,00000 computers that were running on windows operating system (Mohurle Patil, 2017). The ransomware on entering the system encrypts all the data of the system using AES and RSA encryption technique. The encrypted data can only be decrypted with the help of the decryption key that can be obtained only after paying the ransom. It was speculated that the ransomware spread through phishing emails containing malicious program. What are the Issues? There were several issues that were associated with the attack. The ethical issue being the compromise of data privacy and security of the data stored in the ICT devices. The attacker could access all the data stored in the computer devices and encrypted the data so that the owner cannot access it (Crane Matten, 2016). The attack could spread only because of the absence of proper security mechanisms in the affected computer system. The attack lasted for a number of days before it could be stopped using a kill switch. By that time, the attack already created a stir in the whole world (Keown, 2016). Who is affected? Every user and even the Microsoft Company were affected in this particular cyber attack. A specific group of hackers released the typical WannaCry cryptoworm for hacking the operating system of Microsoft Windows and wanted to extract a lump sum amount of ransom. They wanted the ransom in Bitcoins cryptocurrency (Miller et al., 2012). This was considered as one of the greatest cyber attacks, registered in the cyber world. Over 300000 systems were affected in the process and the cryptoworm was injected in them. The countries that were extremely affected in the cyber attack of WannaCry ransom ware mostly include Russia, Taiwan, India and Ukraine. The most significant system that was registered as to be affected was the famous health care centre, namely, National Health Service of United Kingdom. The database of this famous health care centre comprised of every detail of the patients, who were admitted there (Niebuhr, 2013).. The WannaCry ransomware cyber attack affected the system of th e health care centre partially. Fortunately, the cyber attack did not affect all the systems of National Health Service. Hence, it can be said that the affected individuals in the cyber attack were the users and Microsoft Company. What are the ethical issues and implications? There are several ethical issues or problems in this particular case study. A specific group of hackers did the cyber attack. They did not have any ethical reason for this type of cyber attack. They released the WannaCry cryptoworm with the intention of affecting the operating system of Microsoft Windows. This is the most utilized operating system in the entire world and hacking this system almost blocked the uses of several users worldwide. The main intention of the hackers was to acquire ransom for the release of a kill switch (Peters, 2015).. They demanded billions of Bitcoins for the remedy in terms of cryptocurrency. Due to this attack, the data of all the users, who were utilizing the operating system were released and known to every person. The most degrading part of this attack was that it lasted for few days before a researcher created the kill switch. Hence, it can be said that the entire cyber attack was extremely unethical and there are no ethical implications present in it (Crane Matten, 2016). What can be done about it? What options are there? WannaCry ransom ware attack mostly occurred in all the older versions of Microsoft Windows like Windows XP, Windows 98 and Windows Vista. All the systems that were affected in the process were involved with the older versions of Windows operating system. Several measures could have been undertaken for stopping the WannaCry cryptoworm (Peters, 2015). These various options mainly include the installation and utilization of a good antivirus software and restriction to the entry of pop up windows (Dewey, 2016). The regular backup to the folders and files is another important option. Installation and utilization of good antivirus software is the best option for this particular cyber attack of WannaCry ransomware. The antivirus will detect and prevent any type of vulnerability in the operating system and hence, these types of attacks could be eradicated (Banks, 2012). Conclusion Therefore, from the above discussion it can be concluded that although the use of ICT have numerous advantage as it simplifies the process of doing work and business.
